It has been said many times and many slightly different ways, but the message is basically the same. Kappa Sweethearts and the organizations relating to this original group of dedicated women are critical to not only maturing women with the goals of "Achievement in every field of human endeavor," but also to our communities as a whole.
The original purpose of the Kappa Sweethearts (some places call them the Kappa Diamonds) is to help the Brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi in any way necessary. That includes helping set up events, helping to plan events, helping with the intake process, as well as community service and fund raising. The Kappa Sweethearts, being a separate group of women under Kappa Alpha Psi, also hold their own meetings, events, and community service with support from the brothers of the Fraternity. They are representatives of Kappa Alpha Psi when they are doing functions and associating with other brothers. They are expected to be Sweethearts not only in name but in act as well.

The Kappa Sweethearts are the only women universally accepted in the history of the Fraternity as being a "sister" type of organization. Becoming a Kappa Sweetheart did not and does not exclude you from eventually pledging another sorority. Many women have, after becoming a Kappa Sweetheart, moved on to pledge Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta, Sigma Gamma Rho, or Alpha Kappa Alpha. There are also many women who decided that being a Kappa Sweetheart is all they need in their life. The experience was so rewarding, they wanted to focus all their energies toward that end. There are Kappa Sweethearts all across the country and in some schools there maybe more Sweethearts than Brothers.
In recent times, the brothers in charge at the Kappa Alpha Psi National Headquarters have decreed that all Sweetheart chapters being maintained by brothers be disbanded. This did not discourage these women from persevering and continuing to exist on their own. Many organizations have evolved from the Kappa Sweethearts ("Krimson Kourt, Inc.", "Sweethearts, Inc.", "Pretty Girls, Inc.", "Kappa Kourt, Inc.", etc.), but essentially they all have the same goals and ideals from their common foundation in the history of Kappa Alpha Psi.
Becoming a Kappa Sweetheart is a life long privilege many women have come to love and enjoy. For further information please contact one of the Senior Sweethearts in your area or one of the other organizations in your area.
